Vulnerable adults and young people with disabilities were given expert advice on how to prepare for independent living at a recent Transition Event organised in Solihull.
The event, staged by Solihull Community Housing and Solihull Life Opportunities, was held to explain options and support available to people ready for independent living, and the problems that can arise.
Information ranged from what to do when buying a house, to understanding the practicalities of living alone such as changing a light bulb and paying bills.
The message was reinforced by playing an adapted game of snakes and ladders: players moved up ladders by correctly answering questions about repairs, health and safety, benefits and income, tenancy issues, employment and training.
