Walk against abuse

Coventry Council’s Safeguarding Adults Team adopted a novel approach to marking World Elder Abuse Day, by leading a tour around local landmarks highlighting the city’s history in delivering health and social care to older residents.

The 90 minute walk held on 15 June, took in relics, monuments and preserved buildings, all of which tell the story of how public organisations provide services and work together to protect older people at risk.

Locations included St John’s Hospital, Bond’s Hospital, Ford’s Hospital, Whitefriars and the former Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital.
